Karran's health proposals remain on-track

Plans for a safety net scheme, should a new Reciprocal Health Agreement not be signed, have overcome their latest hurdle.

With talks well advanced between the Manx government and the new UK health minister, it’s expected a new deal will be confirmed soon.

But a bid by Onchan MHK Peter Karran to provide universal health insurance for Isle of Man residents, in return for a small levy on the cost of trips to and from the Island, is still on the backburner just in case.

Despite receiving its second reading in the House of Keys yesterday, Mr Karran hopes his proposal will not be needed:
