MASON McLarney had a clean sweep and maximum points in the Skanco sponsored Easter graded junior squash competition at the NSC.

The event attracted an entry of 40 players of all ages and abilities. In group1 Patrick Fitzpatrick won four out of six matches to take third, but Chris Moore was a comfortable second with 87 points, losing the final match against Mason 15/12.

Peter Naylor also scored maximum points to win group 2, but it was a close thing for the rest of the places with only 11 points separating the rest of the group. Oscar Hill and Rachel Pooley had three wins each, but one of Rachel’s losses went down to the last point so she finished with more overall to take second place with 67 points.

Group 3 also had a dominant player with Jodie Green scoring maximum points. Sam Wilson was close with three wins and 68 points but Ben Peach finished in second with four wins and 70 points.

Liam Townsend swept the board in group 4 although Peter Baker came close by one point. Harry Douthwaite had three wins but Liam and Peter were too strong this time.

In Group 5 Stephen Herring won 4 out of 5 matches, losing only to Walid Anwar who won the group with maximum points. Jole Clucas and Clare Townsend finished one point apart in third and fourth places respectively.

Completing a remarkable event, Ethan Herbert was another maximum points winner in group 6. Katherine Picken won three matches but couldn’t pip Martin Hindley for third, despite Martin only winning two matches. Leena Anwar also won three, but one defeat was only by one point so she finished a comfortable second with 66 points.
