Minister understands database concerns

by isleofman.com 23rd May 2010

The safety of children will be paramount as the Manx government decides whether to progress aspects of the contentious Children Bill.

That's the vow of Minister for Education and Children Eddie Teare, after the closure of a period of public consultation.

The department had around 80 responses, many of which included reference to plans to create a database of all the children at the Island's schools.

Mr Teare says he can understand concerns over privacy (play audio file):

The department will examine the submissions over the summer.
