by isleofman.com 14th May 2010

An inquest has heard a Laxey man died of pneumonia, as a result of inhaling sea water.

Seventy-nine-year-old Peter Brian Sumner, of Fairy Cottage, was admitted to Noble's hospital in April after being pulled from the village harbour.

Evidence showed he had been suffering from a number of illnesses, including Parkinson's disease, diabetes and cancer.

Mr Sumner died in hospital earlier this month.

Coroner Alastair Montgomerie recorded the cause of death as aspiration pneumonia due to inhalation of sea water.
