Richmond Hill closure delayed

by isleofman.com 30th April 2010
THE planned closure of Richmond Hill on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th May and evening closures from 10th – 14th May have been postponed for one week following a review of schedules.

The road will now be closed from 9.00am on Saturday 15th May until 12 midnight on Sunday 16th May. Additionally, there will be further road closures on three of the evenings between Monday 17th and Friday 21st May from 7.00pm to 5.00am. The exact dates of the evening closures will be dependent on the weather.

Motorists heading towards the Airport and the south of the Island from central Douglas along the Inner Link Road – along South Quay and the A6 – will be advised to turn left at the White Hoe and use the A25 Old Castletown Road to Santon. Vehicles will then be diverted right onto the B24 Oatlands Road and back onto the A5 Castletown Road.

Motorists heading south from Quarterbridge will be diverted right at the Spring Valley Roundabout and directed to use the A6 Cooil Road leading to the A24 and the A26, which runs through the Braaid, St Mark’s and onwards to Ballasalla.

Motorists heading north from Ballasalla will be advised to use the A5 New Castletown Road as far as Santon. Vehicles will be diverted right onto the B24 Oatlands Road and then left onto the A25 Old Castletown Road.

Alternatively, at Ballasalla motorists can use the A26 St Mark’s Road and the A24 to rejoin New Castletown Road at Spring Valley roundabout. Advisory signs and diversion signs will be placed at various junctions on these routes to assist motorists in their journeys.

The Department has apologised in advance for any inconvenience which may be caused.
