Drivers urged to take extra care during TT course road works

by isleofman.com 30th April 2010
THE Department of Infrastructure has reminded motorists to take extra care on Manx roads over the coming weeks as works take place in preparation for this year’s TT Festival following an incident where a road worker was clipped by a passing vehicle.

The worker was hit while packing away at the end of the day and Minister Phil Gawne has issued a statement asking drivers to drive with “care and consideration through any roadworks starting in the next few weeks.”

Kerb painting and patching will be taking place at various locations around the TT course and Southern 100 course over the coming weeks and, in addition to this, the course contractors will be placing hay bales and safety barriers around the course.

Motorists are asked to “please drive carefully” though roadworks and adhere to the advisory speed limits. “Road workers risk their lives when working on open roads, please respect this and drive safely.”
