by isleofman.com 28th April 2010

History has been made at the 118th Manx Music Festival.

Laurence Kermode is believed to have become the oldest ever competitor in the annual competition, when he took part in the folk song class, earlier this week.

Ninety-four-year-old Mr Kermode received 88 marks with an acapella rendition which he says he chose because it was 'the story of his life' (play audio file):

The folk song class was won by Paul Costain from Colby, with 92 marks.
