The member of the Legisalative Council who is hoping to introduce changes to the face of Manx politics says he knows he has an uphill struggle on his hands.
David Callister wants to see the number of constituencies reduced from 15 to eight, with each represented by three MHKs and one MLC, and the upper house elected by members of the public.
In the Legislative Council yesterday, members voted 5-2 in favour of Mr Callister bringing forward a private members' bill with the aim of making those changes.
Mr Callister says his system is what the Keys has asked for in the past while one of his opponents, Eddie Lowey, MLC, says he isn't against change, but has to believe it would be for the better:
