Still Time to Sign Up for Medis Knockout!

by isleofman.com 27th April 2010

Now is the last chance for your business or organisation to take part in the Medis It’s A Knockout Challenge.

Now in its fifth year, the event has raised more than £50,000 for Isle of Man charities.  As this is the last year the event will take place, Medis is aiming for the event to be the biggest yet - a Knockout Challenge to remember!

Teams are made up of 6 to 10 members who compete in a variety of games based on the popular 1970s It’s A Knockout TV show.

All of those who sign up must be prepared to get a soaking at some point in the proceedings, but all of those who take part go home with a smile on their face whether they have won or lost. It’s a great way for businesses to foster team building or to raise money for charity.

This year’s event is at Noble’s Park on Sunday 11th July, beginning at 1pm.  The titles of some of the games, which over the years have included Up Over and Through, Round and Round We Go and The Grand National Chase, give an idea of the fun events that competitors can expect on the big day.

Last year’s event was won by a team from IT firm ITEX (Isle of Man) Limited.

The Medis It’s A Knockout Challenge is one of the Island's most successful fundraising events.  This year, the nominated charities are The Children’s Centre and Crossroads Caring for Carers.

"We are so pleased that Medis has selected us to be one of the beneficiaries," said Michelle O’Malley, of The Children’s Centre.

"We’d encourage everyone to take part, or to come along to what really is a great day out."

Karen Davies from Crossroads Caring for Carers said, "We are delighted to be one of the nominated charities which will benefit from the Medis It’s a Knockout Challenge – what could be better then raising money and having fun at the same time?"

Commenting on this year's Challenge, Medis Managing Director Stuart Colligon said, "We’ve had a fantastic time running this event over the years and many of the teams have told us how much fun they’ve had taking part.  There are few better, more enjoyable ways to raise substantial sums for charity in a single afternoon.

"Despite its success we have decided we should finish the It’s a Knockout series while it is still at the height of its popularity.  I urge everyone to do whatever they can to take part in this fifth and final year, whether it is persuading your employers and colleagues to enter teams, or even groups of friends clubbing together.”

Those taking part are encouraged to bring their family and friends along to watch the fun and games.

There will be plenty of sideshows and food stalls to keep them entertained when there’s a break in the action.

Entry forms, including a fact pack giving full details of the event, are available from Emma Druggan at Medis on (01624) 692962 or email emmad@medis.is

The deadline for entries is Friday 18th June, 2010.
