Young Bands Play Fundraiser in Peel

by isleofman.com 27th April 2010

A line-up of talented local bands performed in Peel last week to raise money for the town’s Youth Centre and for St John Ambulance.

Half Way Home, Tomorrow’s Too Late, Somebody Someday and Daniel Buttimore played to an audience of almost 100 people at the Centenary Centre last Wednesday evening (21st April).

The gig was organised by Peel Youth Centre’s Youth and Community Worker Tracy Jones and Youth Worker Val Goldie with the assistance of the town’s MHK, Tim Crookall, and many others.

The ?193 raised will be divided equally between the Youth Centre in Shore Road and St John Ambulance.

The Youth Centre will put the money towards starting up a Soundcheck project for young musicians, similar to the one that has been operating successfully at Douglas Youth Centre for a number of years.

Tracy said, "Special thanks go to Val Goldie for her work organising the event. But it would not have happened without the support of local people and those who played.

"Following the success of this event, we will be arranging another gig, hopefully bigger and even better, and we will maybe invite bands and artists from all over the Island."
