More secondary students have a day off

by isleofman.com 22nd April 2010

All the Island's schools are open again today (Thursday), but some students at the two Douglas high schools are again being asked to stay at home.

Today it's the turn of Ballakermeen's Year 7, and Year 9 at St Ninian's to have an unexpected day away from lessons.

Tomorrow (Friday), it will be the turn of Ballakermeen's Year 9, and Year 8 at St Ninian's to have the day off.

Both schools still have a significant number of teachers stranded off-Island, because of the disruption to international air services caused by the cloud of volcanic ash from the eruption in Iceland.

The Department of Education and Children says all other schools are coping for the time being, and are expected to operate as usual on both days.
