Union official overwhelmed by 'stench of hypocrisy'

by isleofman.com 22nd April 2010

The approval by Tynwald of the new unified public sector pension scheme is being severely criticised by a union representative.

Prospect's Angela Moffatt says Tuesday's vote, by 24 to six, was a blow for around two-thirds of the Island's public sector workers, but not for the politicians themselves.

And she is accusing members of Tynwald of hypocrisy (play audio file):

The scheme will replace the 15 which are running at present, and the aim is to have it in place by April 2012.

The six members of Tynwald who voted against the proposals laid before the court by Chief Minister Tony Brown were Peter Karran, David Cannan, Bill Henderson, Bill Malarkey, Brenda Cannell and Steve Rodan.
