Tomorrow (Thursday (22nd April) sees the opening round of the Manx Classic, the three-day sprint and hillclimb event held at three separate venues across the Island, including the brand new evening course 'The Governor’s Sprint' from the TT Grandstand in Douglas.
Ferraris, TVRs, MGs, Alfa Romeos, Caterhams and Austins are just some of the mouthwatering cars competing in the event.
Spanning over eight decades, from a 1924 Frazer Nash to a 2010 Porsche 911, more than sixty cars will be put through their paces, with drivers competing for the best time along prearranged time trail courses.
This year’s event sees UK-based competitors travelling over to the Island to compete against a good number of experienced local drivers on the challenging courses.
On Thursday 22nd April, 'The Governor’s Sprint” will see cars in action from the TT Grandstand on Glencrutchery Road, running for just less than three-quarters of a mile through Governor’s Dip and up the ‘old’ TT road, finishing by West Drive.
The event takes place from 6pm to 10.30pm.
On Friday 23rd April, the drivers tackle the challenging Sloc Hillclimb in the south of the Island.
Then, on Saturday 24th April, the Manx Classic moves to the north of the Island, running out of Ramsey, from Barrule Park through famous TT landmarks including Ramsey Hairpin, Waterworks and The Gooseneck on the Lhergy Frissell Hillclimb, a course much loved by both drivers and spectators.
Spectators are welcome to all events and viewing is free of charge, but spectators are reminded that motorsport can be dangerous and they must take note of all instructions given by officials.
The Manx Motor Racing Club has been running successful motorsports events in the Isle of Man since 1987. It is grateful to local residents for their understanding and wishes to thank them for their ongoing support.
