MED service won't be reduced - minister

It looks as if the Manx Emergency Doctor Service at Noble's Hospital has been saved.

The issue of possible cutbacks to MEDS has been a controversial topic in recent weeks, with claims from some GPs that the overnight service, from midnight and 8am, was to be reduced and that there had been no proper consultation on the issue.

However, in Tynwald today, Health Minister David Anderson said some suggestions had been taken out of context and presented as a done deal which wasn't the case.

In fact, a way forward had been agreed which would safeguard the MED service:
