Honeymoon turns to nightmare for teachers

Two teachers at Ballakermeen High School have been telling Manx Radio how they got caught up in the travel chaos caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Eoin and Seoisin Moriarty were on a delayed honeymoon in Italy when the problems started.

They travelled by train and hire car halfway across Europe to Dieppe, but were told they wouldn't be able to get on a ferry until later today (Tuesday) at the earliest.

Students in Ballakermeen High School Key Stage 3 (Years seven, eight and nine) were asked to stay at home on Monday, because of staff shortages.

Mr Moriaty, who is head of Key Stage 4 at the school says Europe's transport infrastructure is at breaking point:
