High school restrictions in Douglas

by isleofman.com 19th April 2010

All schools in the Isle of Man are open for business today (Tuesday) and tomorrow, but there will be restrictions at the two Douglas secondary schools.

Today, all Year 9 pupils at Ballakermeen and all Year 8 pupils at St Ninian's are being asked to stay at home.

Then tomorrow, Year 8 students at Ballakermeen and Year 7 students at St Ninian's are being asked not to attend school.

The Department of Education and Children says both schools currently have 15 teachers stranded off the Island because of the disruption caused by the volcanic ash from Iceland.

All other schools are said to be coping for the time being, and will be open as normal.
