Disruption for air travellers continues

by isleofman.com 18th April 2010

There will be no air services to and from the Isle of Man today (Sunday), because of continuing problems caused by the huge cloud of ash from the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

The position is being reviewed at 1pm, but the signs for any early improvement aren't thought to be good.

Yesterday, Manx2.com was able to run some services, at relatively low altitude, between the Isle of Man and Belfast and Blackpool, but that isn't expected to happen today.

Last night airport director Ann Reynolds explained why people may see vapour trials over the Island today, despite the effective closure of Manx airspace (play audio file):

Despite the lack of air services today, the main terminal building at Isle of Man Airport will be open, so people can pick up hire cars, contact the information desk and ring in for advice.
