Manx airspace shut until at least 1pm

Manx airspace will be closed until at least one o' clock this afternoon, Airport Director Anne Reynolds has confirmed to Manx Radio.

She says that's when the next bulletin is expected from the Volcanic Centre as to the status of the cloud of ash.

She gave us this update just before 10am: (play audio clip)

Meanwhile, Manx2.com say they're prepared to start flying at 1pm, if the flight ban is lifted. Anyone who needs to leave or return to the Island urgently, is asked to call the airline, which is operating a standby list.
