Plans for the fifth and final phase of a ?25 million public sector housing development in Ramsey are progressing well.
The town's commissioners have asked the Department of Infrastructure for a ?4 million loan to build a further 27 homes on the site of the former Lezayre housing estate, swelling the final number to 149.
Once completed, the project will have seen the total demolition of the former estate, a new access road from Poyll Dooey Road and, in the final stage, the creation of a new recreation area.
The development is a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes, six of which are modified for people requiring care and/or mobility support.
Subject to approval, work should commence on site in July, with a planned completion date of September 2011.
