Ash Cloud Leads to Postal Disruption

by isleofman.com 16th April 2010

Isle of Man Post Office is advising customers that the closure of UK airspace and airspace in parts of Europe (due to the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland) is affecting mail sent to and from the Isle of Man.

As a result, the delivery time of mail bound for the Island, the UK and to European and international destinations is being disrupted.

Isle of Man Post Office is monitoring the situation closely and as soon as the situation changes it will revert back to normal airmail operations.

Isle of Man Post Office is continuing to accept and prioritise Special Delivery items destined for the UK and recommends customers use this service for important and valuable items.

However, it is currently unable to offer the next-day guarantee for items posted today (Friday 16th April) and tomorrow (Saturday 17th).

It will continue to make every effort to deliver these items and will restore the guarantee of next-day delivery as soon as it can assure customers it can honour the Special Delivery service promise in all areas.

Meanwhile local deliveries, including the Special Delivery on-island service, are unaffected.  Isle of Man Post Office will update customers when more information is available and apologises for this inconvenience which is outside of its control.

Customers with any queries can contact the Customer Services Team on (01624) 664664.
