Local authorities under the microscope

by isleofman.com 16th April 2010

'Forging greater links between government and the Island's local authorities, to improve services, increase efficiency and save ratepayers' money'.

That's the remit of a new Department of Infrastructure working group, headed up by Malew and Santon MHK Graham Cregeen, who is also taking on political responsibility for local government, within the department.

The appointment follows the recent tabling of a Tynwald motion by Mr Cregeen, asking for a review of local authority audit fees.

He has withdrawn the motion, since being made chairman of the working group.

Mr Cregeen will be on Monday's Mandate, talking to John Moss about local authorities.
