Volcanic ash from Iceland leads to cancellation of flights

by isleofman.com 15th April 2010

All flights to and from the Island have been cancelled this morning.

They've been affected by volcanic ash from Iceland high in the atmosphere above the UK.

The UK Flight control centre has announced that no flights will be allowed in UK airspace today between midday until at least 6pm.

Earlier this morning Manx2.com, whose planes fly at lower altitudes, were still able to fly their routes but those flights have also been cancelled for safety reasons.

Airport Director Anne Reynolds explains the current situation
