Prescribed medication contributed to man's death

by isleofman.com 14th April 2010

An inquest has heard how a Port St Mary man died from a lung infection, complicated by the use of prescribed medicines.

Jeffrey Watterson's body was found on Saturday, April 3 at his home in St Mary's Road.

Evidence showed there were no obvious injuries on his body, but there were vials of methadone in his room.

A post mortem concluded the cause of death was bronchopneumonia, against a background of methadone use.

Coroner of inquests Alastair Montgomerie expressed condolences to Mr Watterson's family and adjourned the inquest to allow police to conclude their investigations.

Mr Watterson, a former Departmentment of Transport worker, was 42.
