Big success for prison education system

Five students have been awarded GCSEs by the home affairs minister, after studying for them while serving prison sentences.

It's the biggest success so far for the prison education system, run by the Isle of Man College.

All inmates at Jurby are offered the chance to study for qualifications during their time behind bars, in the hope it will give them a better chance of getting a job once they have been released.

Prison governor Alison Gomme says lack of education can be a big problem:
