Road works continue in the south

by isleofman.com 14th April 2010

Another major stretch of road has been closed to allow improvements to take place.

The section of the A7 from Cross Four Ways to Crossag Road, Ballasalla will be out of bounds for vehicles for four weeks.

Drivers of through-traffic are being advised to use the A5 Douglas to Port Erin road and the A3 Malew Road as alternative routes.

So far the scheme has seen the realignment of the northern boundary wall on the Ballabeg side of the A7 and the reconstruction of the road from Billown Quarry to the junction.

The latest work will focus on reconstructing the existing southern boundary wall on the Ballasalla side of the A7, along with the upgrading of drainage at the junction.

The Department of Infrastructure says, due to the nature of the work, there is no option but to close the road for the safety of both workmen and drivers.

It is apologising for any inconvenience.
