Drug offender jailed again by deemster

by isleofman.com 13th April 2010

A heroin addict has been jailed for six years for possessing the drug with intent to supply.

Forty-seven-year-old Rex William Chambers, of Bircham Avenue Close in Ramsey, denied the charge but was convicted by a jury last month.

Police found nine grammes of heroin along with drug paraphernalia at his home in July last year.

His advocate told the court Chambers had a longstanding addiction, using up to four grammes a day, but was now receiving treatment and hoped to become drug free.

At the Court of General Gaol, Deemster Doyle said he had jailed Chambers for four years for drugs offences some years ago.

He said he had warned him then to stay away from them, but Chambers had chosen not to do so.
