Douglas Development Partnership launched its Destination Douglas exhibition last week (Tuesday 6th April).
Aimed at involving the public in the regeneration plans for Douglas, the exhibition is linked to the strategy being led by the Partnership, together with the Douglas local regeneration committee and Douglas Borough Council, to improve the centre of Douglas, make it more to attractive to visitors and encourage inbound investment.
Among the guests were Hamish Ross, Chairman, and John Horsthuis, Director, of the Partnership’s board of directors; Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce retail committee Chairman Stephen Bradley; G4S Managing Director Stuart McCudden; Sefton Group Chief Operating Officer Mark Lewin; and Councillors Sara Hackman and John Faragher.
In a brief presentation, development manager Chris Pycroft outlined the initial design concepts displayed on a series of story boards.
He explained, "The purpose of this exhibition is to sound out public opinion about the overall design philosophy and generate feedback so that the completed project amply reflects the aspirations held by the people of the Isle of Man for their capital."
The Destination Douglas exhibition is on until 23rd April, from Monday to Friday between 12noon and 2pm at the Partnership’s Victoria Street, Douglas office. Supporting events planned include discussion groups, workshops and an evening walking tour.
