Bacchas are champions!

by isleofman.com 10th April 2010

Bacchas A are Mixed Premier Division champions.

They sealed a superb league campaign with an 11-1 thrashing of Valkyrs B and, with reigning champions and nearest rivals Valkyrs A going down 5-2 at Falcons, that was enough to set the party in full swing.

Bacchas’ 100 per cent record was maintained thanks to four goal hauls from the prolific Karl Moore and Dave Kneale.

Andy Vernon-Browne, Richard Le Page and Lucy Quine netted the others with Aalish Bennett scoring the reply on a day of celebration for Bacchas.

Valkyrs’ grip on the title was ended as they shipped five goals after an initial fight back.

Strikes from Greg Miller and Neil Jacobs overturned a two goal deficit to give them a glimmer of hope but Falcons took charge in the end – Kim Carney, Dave Millward, Conor Byrne (two) and Christian Davis the scorers.

Bottom side Ramsey A battled hard but were edged out 3-2 by Bacchas B.

Sam and Keith Corkill netted for the northerners but it wasn’t quite enough as Bacchas B won through Alex Bell, Ben Leeming and Mark Perryman.
