Party time for Douglas Royal

by isleofman.com 10th April 2010

It’s party time for Douglas Royal.

A week after winning their first silverware of the season, they’ve gained promotion from CFS Division Two – and all this without playing.

Although Royal weren’t in action, Marown’s 3-1 defeat at Foxdale means Royal have bounced back to the top flight after a two year absence.

Goals from Foxdale young guns Aaron Costain (two) and Adam Menton settled the western derby to seal a miserable last two months of the campaign for Marown.

Although the Crosby side have one league game remaining, Ayre United seem set to gain the other promotion spot after they moved above Marown with a 5-2 home victory over Malew.

Doubles from James Teare and Jason Craine and one from Tony Corlett fired the Tangerines to success.

Dean Kinley and Craig Howard found the net for Malew.

In-form Braddan are up to fourth after a 5-1 home victory over the Police – Wil Smith (two), Rob Shaw, Dave Kinrade and Jamie Johnson their marksmen.

Carl Breadner netted the Police consolation.

Sam Renshaw was on target for Colby but they had to settle for a point after a battling Ramsey Youth Centre earned a 1-1 draw through Glen McGovern.

Pulrose have moved level with Colby after a 4-2 home win over Onchan – Barry English (two), Chris Cowin and Dave Preistnal their scorers.

Douglas and District moved away from the basement after a 3-1 home win over Ronaldsway.

The Rockets led at the break through Peter O’Brien but goals from Craig Cowin, Danny Stewart and Wes Downey ensured a fine day for D&D.
