MGP veteran's worries over fares

by isleofman.com 9th April 2010

A TT and Manx Grand Prix veteran of 49 years says he has serious doubts about coming to the MGP for his golden anniversary this year, because of the cost of making the trip.

Bob Peck is a pensioner, and believes having to pay ?525 up front, ten months in advance, for himself and his van, is too much.

He claims many people he knows are being put off for the same reason.

As well as being a fan, Mr Peck competed in the MGP in 1965 and took part in the TT Classic Parade for over 25 years.

He says much has been made of the revamped festival planned for MGP 2010, but it's all irrelevant if people can't afford to travel to the Island.

Mr Peck says he hasn't taken his decision lightly (play audio file):

Manx Radio contacted the Steam Packet for a response, but was told no one was available to comment.
