Roger 'lived and breathed TT and MGP'

by isleofman.com 7th April 2010

Tributes are continuing to be paid to Roger Hurst, one of the best known names in motorsport marshalling in the Isle of Man.

He passed away at the weekend after a short illness

TT Marshals' Association chairman Terry Holmes told Manx Radio Mr Hurst 'lived and breathed the TT and Manx Grand Prix'.

Former Tourism Minister David Cretney - now Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure - knew Mr Hurst well and worked with him closely for many years.

He says he loved racing and gave up huge amounts of his time to ensure sufficient marshals were available for racing to go ahead (play audio file):

Manx Radio TT commentator and presenter Chris Kinley says Roger Hurst was a quietly spoken man, who was firm when he had to be and great fun to be around.

He says his passing is a real loss to the motorcycling community.
