MEDS changes still at discussion stage

Health Minister David Anderson says there is no 'done deal' on any changes to the Isle of Man's emergency overnight GP service.

Concerns were raised after it was suggested the Department of Health was going to scrap MEDS (Manx Emergency Doctor Service), which is based at Noble's Hospital, between the hours of midnight and 8am.

Dr Richard Hamm, a retired GP who works for MEDS, told Manx Radio such a move would be a serious blow to the future of patient care on the Island.

However, on Talking Heads today (Tuesday), Mr Anderson said while efficiency savings had to be made somewhere, any cutback to MEDS was still only a suggestion and Dr Hamm had 'racked the situation up':
