Callers concerned over MEDS plan

Concern is growing over the Health Department's plan to do away with the Isle of Man's emergency overnight GP service, to save money.

Dr Richard Hamm, a retired GP who works for the Manx Emergency Doctors Service (MEDS), has told Manx Radio such a move would be a serious blow to the future of patient care.

A number of people called the station's Mannin Line at the weekend to express their dismay and disbelief at the proposals.

Health Minister David Anderson says his department is looking to bring in something which costs a lot less but is 'equally robust'.

Dr Hamm can't see how that would be possible:
