New-look government gets down to business

Work has been continuing over the Easter break, to assist the smooth introduction of the new government structure.

Everything officially changed on April 1, but the long weekend effectively delayed the start of the new era.

In the biggest overhaul since the ministerial system came in 24 years ago, seven new departments have been created, with only the Treasury and Home Affairs staying the same.

The revised structure is spearheaded by Allan Bell's Department of Economic Development, which has the task of generating new revenue streams, as the government seeks to manage the reduction in VAT income.

Chief Minister Tony Brown is confident everything will gel:
