Local authority encourages healthy living

by isleofman.com 5th April 2010

As the weather (generally!) continues to improve, people in Ramsey are being offered a new way to keep fit.

A range of adult exercise equipment, called Xerscape, has been installed around Mooragh Park by the town's commissioners, in partnership with the former Department of Local Government.

It's suitable for anyone aged twelve and over, and each unit comes with a simple step-by-step guide.

The instructions explain the sequence in which to use each piece, and how many repetitions should be attempted, depending on the user's level of fitness.

The exercise stations are being praised by Manx Sport and Recreation, with sports development officer Gianni Epifani hoping other local authorities follow suit.

Chairman of Ramsey Commissioners Sylvia Beattie is delighted with the equipment, and is paying tribute to DoLGE for its assistance, and the commissioners' own staff for installing it so quickly.
