Historic vehicles finally have a home

by isleofman.com 5th April 2010

The Isle of Man's first Manx vintage transport museum had its official opening over the Easter weekend.

A hangar at Jurby Airfield provides the space for a multitude of vehicles, including buses and trams.

The project has taken a long time to reach fruition and its journey hasn't always been a smooth one, with DTL funding being withdrawn at one point last year.

The Manx Transport Trust is the organisation behind the new facility and chairman Richard Davis says it's great to finally see the vehicles restored to their former glory and on display (play audio file):

The museum was officially opened by Chief Minister Tony Brown, who drove a modern bus through a length of 'tape', made of bus tickets!
