There may be plenty of media hype about mephedrone, but there is substance to the stories concerning individuals who have taken it.
That's the view of the director of the Isle of Man's Drug Advice Service Helpline, Shelly Stanley, who says the number of people who end up in Accident and Emergency, suffer side-effects or become dependent on it is very high.
Today it became illegal in the Island to import, export, sell or supply mephedrone, or possess it with the intention of selling or supplying it.
