Police dogs ready to sniff out mephedrone

As momentum builds in the United Kingdom towards a ban on the so called 'legal high' drug mephedrone, the substance will be criminalised in the Isle of Man tomorrow (Thursday).

Also known as 'plant food', it has caused a major scare after being linked to a number of suspicious deaths among young people in the UK and Europe.

Mephedrone is widely available on the internet, but from tomorrow it will become illegal under Manx law to import or distribute it.

Sergeant Ian Kelly of the Isle of Man Constabulary's dog handling unit says training the animals to find the drug isn't difficult:
