DHSS aims to reduce locum work

Nearly ?6 million has been spent by the DHSS on temporary staff during the current financial year.

The figure was revealed by Health Minister Eddie Teare during question time in the House of Keys.

Of that sum, ?4.2 million was for medical staff, which Mr Teare said were brought in as and when required, by public demand.

He said the health service was looking to cut its dependence on locums:
