The Education Minister has refuted suggestions that a bill aimed at protecting vulnerable children will mean more prying by government into family life.
The Children Bill 2010, currently out for consultation, aims to set up an over-arching strategy to ensure the well-being and safety of youngsters in the Island.
Its critics say the Bill could mean many more investigations into the way children are being brought-up, opening the door to much greater intervention by the state.
But Minister Anne Craine says the bill aims to identify serious problems early on and ensure help is offered.
The Positive Action Group will discuss the Children Bill at a meeting in Douglas on Monday night.
Civil Liberties campaigner and parent Tristram Llewyllyn Jones will give a presentation entitled 'Should THEY tell YOU how to bring up your children?'
He says the Isle of Man is on the verge of importing a strategy from England which he claims led to pointless investigations into childrens' upbringings.
The meeting is at the Manx Legion Hall in Douglas at 7.30pm.
