Man caught speeding admits drug charge

by isleofman.com 26th March 2010

Sentence on a 19-year-old man who admitted possessing drugs and a knife, and a number of motoring offences, has been adjourned for reports by the deputy high bailiff.

Kevin Ashley Watterson, of Magherrosien, Port Erin, was stopped by police in Lower Foxdale after he was seen speeding at around midnight on January 9.

Officers searched the car and found a 12 inch knife, which had traces of cannabis on its blade, and drug paraphernalia.

Police then noticed the tread on his tyres was below the legal limit, and a subsequent check by vehicle examiners also revealed a defective silencer and faulty brakes.

Watterson was bailed until April 23, when he will be sentenced.
