A thousand students expected at careers event

The Manx government's annual careers fair is taking place at the Villa Marina today.

Careers 2010 has been organised by the departments of education and trade and industry.

Forty-six employers from the public and private sectors are taking part and sixth form students from all the Island's secondary schools are being given a change to pay a visit, with up to 1,000 expected through the doors before the exhibition closes at 7pm.

Training Supervisor for the DTI and construction industry Joe Smith says it's a quiet time for the building trade at the moment, but it's always worth attending such events, if only to talk about future opportunities:
