Marc Almond will be making a special appearance at the Villa Marina on 30th November 2010 as part of his 30th Anniversary Tour.
To coincide with the release of his Best Of album, the former Soft Cell frontman and unique solo artist will play 24 UK dates under the title 'My Best Bits: Hits and A sides', showcasing the best of his three decades in music.
As 80s electro duo Soft Cell, Marc and Dave Ball enjoyed a string of international hits, most famously 'Say Hello Wave Goodbye' and their take on the Northern Soul classic 'Tainted Love'.
Marc’s solo career since those days has been as successful as it has been varied, from his No. 1 hit duet with Gene Pitney, 'Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart', to the Trevor Horn-produced smash cover 'The Days of Pearly Spencer', to a remarkable Jacques Brel tribute album.
He has duetted with Siouxsie Sioux, published two autobiographies and a poem anthology, enjoyed a further career as a DJ, and toured once more as Soft Cell, to great acclaim.
In 2004, Marc survived a near-fatal motorbike crash and battled his way to recovery. On the way, he made a guest appearance at Antony & the Johnsons' debut London show in 2005, earning a standing ovation, and in the following year, performed two Brecht songs at Patti Smith's London Meltdown Festival.
For his appearance at the Royal Hall, Marc will be joined by a nine-piece band and a baby grand piano. Expect drama, humour, emotion and an exhilarating live experience from this treasured British performer.
The show has been organised by Skunkworks Promotions, in association with Manx Radio. Tickets (priced from ?22.50) will be available through the Villa Marina Box Office from Saturday 27th March.
