Three local charities have received a helping hand from Appleby, one of the Island's leading providers of offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services.
From Appleby's 'Fund for the Community', £500 has gone to DASH (Drug Advice Service and Helpline), £500 to Southern Befrienders and £1,000 to The Manx Foundation for the Physically Disabled.
The cheques were presented by Appleby Partner, John Rimmer to Shelly Stanley - Director of DASH, Maddie Porter – Scheme Coordinator with Southern Befrienders and Jan Jukes – Manager of The Manx Foundation for the Physically Disabled on 19 March 2010 at Appleby’s offices in Athol Street.
Shelly Stanley commented, "The donation will enable us to provide a number of weeks of care for those wishing to address their drug use and provide vital support to their families. The results of people getting their life back are immeasurable and we are very grateful to Appleby for their support in the community."
Maddie Porter said, "Southern Befrienders are very grateful for the £500 donation. This will go a long way in helping us meet the local need of social isolation and loneliness in the elderly communities in the south of the Isle of Man."
Jan Jukes wanted to extend a massive thank you to Appleby and went on to say, "This kind donation will go a long way in helping us continue to provide support to the people who use our services and their carers."
Appleby's involvement with the community has not been limited to these three charities. John Rimmer said, "Appleby is delighted to be involved in helping local charities in their ongoing efforts to help people in the community. Through our Fund for the Community, we are committed to continuing our contribution to the hard work local charities are pursuing daily."
