Broadcaster's plans for Tynwald coverage

by isleofman.com 25th March 2010

The proceedings of Tynwald could be broadcast on television as well as radio.

Manx Radio has provided full, live coverage from the chamber for a number of years, but now the BBC says it is hoping to screen interesting debates on its Parliament Channel.

The service would be available to all households in the United Kingdom with digital televisions.

However, director of external policy for the BBC Wilf White says it's still early days (play audio file):

Wilf White was one of a number of people who gave evidence at yesterday's sitting of a select committee of Tynwald, which is investigating whether the BBC licence fee represents value for money for people living in the Isle of Man.
