UK Budget could target offshore tax evaders

The Treasury Minister says it's highly likely that the UK Chancellor will double penalties against those evading tax by using offshore finance centres such as the Island.

Alistair Darling has already stated that today's budget, the last before the General Election in the UK, will be no "pre-election give away" but will be "sensible and workmanlike"

Alan Bell says there would be two benefits for Mr Darling to pursue wealthy individuals who use offshores to avoid paying their dues
