A local property developer says he's surprised the Manx government is putting the redevelopment of the Summerland site out to tender for a third time.
Mike Priest, who runs Springham Ltd with his brother Graham, put in a bid for the contract last time, but lost out to the Sefton Group's 'Wave' project.
The Priests were told their plans didn't meet the original brief because of the 36 luxury flats they wanted to build, but when the 'Wave' fell through last October they had hoped the DTL would go back to them.
However, in the House of Keys today (Tuesday), Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle announced the government would be inviting tenders again next month.
Mike Priest says they will make another submission, and maintains that any scheme for the site needs to include some sort of residential accommodation:
