Police have named the man whose body was found in Laxey at the weekend.

He was Adam Hobson, a 45-year-old married man who lived in the village.

It's believed he died as the result of a tragic accident.

Senior investigating officer Detective Iain McMillan says he has no reason to suspect the involvement of anyone else in Mr Hobson's death, but the full circumstances are still unexplained.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, and particularly want to speak to anyone who was in the area of Laxey Post Office, in the six hours from 1am on Sunday (March 21).

Police say such investigations often require the closure of public areas, and are thanking members of the local community for their patience while large sections of the village have been cordoned off.

They say they are working as quickly as possible to release the remaining cordoned off areas back to full public use.

Members of Mr Hobson's family are being cared for by relatives and a specially trained police officer.

Police say that, following Mr Hobson's death, there is no cause for alarm among residents of Laxey.
