The firm behind a new insurance policy offering medical expenses cover to Manx residents in the United Kingdom, says the decision to extend the Reciprocal Health Agreement is a setback, but not a disaster.
Chief executive officer Brian Kelly says Offshore Travel Insurance Ltd had already sold hundreds of one pound a day policies, covering medical expenses and repatriation for trips to the UK.
It was a tailor made policy for the Manx market, to cover residents for any hospital stays in the UK after the agreement was due to end, but for six months at least it won't now be needed.
Mr Kelly says refunds are available for those who want to cancel, but there hasn't been a huge demand so far:
