Island advised to get some 'new allies'

by isleofman.com 23rd March 2010

A man looking to become a member of the House of Keys for East Douglas says affordable housing and facilities for youngsters are the main issues in the area as far as he is concerned.

John Joughin says, as a resident of the constituency, he is well placed to know what is needed.

Mr Joughin, an Isle of Man Post worker and union representative, is one of five candidates who have declared their intention to contest a by-election which has been called following the elevation of Phil Braidwood to the Legislative Council.

Outside of local issues, he feels the Isle of Man needs to start getting itself some new allies (play audio file):

The other candidates who have declared so far are Kate Beecroft, Colin Cain, Chris Robertshaw and Kevin Woodford.

Nominations close on April 27, and polling day is a month later.
